To-do's in Gmail!

OK, just wanted to share... Gmail (in the Labs section) now has a to-do list that can pop up like a chat window, where tasks can be added & checked off. Emails can be attached to the tasks, too. I just started using this today, so we'll see how it goes. So far, I like it.

- Do Bible study for tonight
- Take pictures of Paul's car and post on Craigslist
- Take pictures of BlackBerry and post on eBay
- Take pictures of shelving unit and post on Craigslist

- Make a menu for this week (go shopping?)
- Clean cat boxes; wash and refill food/water bowls
- Find paper to print Christmas letters

I might add more to this later.

Meal plan through 11/17

OK, Josh & I just reworked the budget, & I'm in charge of the grocery money, because I think that will motivate me to plan meals. Previously, I didn't carry (or spend) any money at all. Here's my attempt:

Monday: Chicken sandwiches & potatoes
Tuesday: Spaghetti & meatballs (Meatballs in the freezer!)
Wednesday: Baked tilapia & green beans
Thursday: Grilled cheese & tomato soup
Friday: Breakfast
Saturday: Pizza pasta casserole (in the freezer!)
Sunday: Tacos & refried beans (Made this Wednesday instead)
Monday: Dinner with the small group

What're ya'll making for Thanksgiving? Anything?

Borrego Menu 11/11 - 11/17

Meal #1: Beef-a-roni and garlic bread
Meal #2: Pinto Bean and Ham Soup (Crockpot, pg. 202)
Meal #3: Slow-Cooker Stew (Crockpot, pg. 70)
Meal #4: Chicken and Vegetable Casserole (Crockpot, pg. 26)
Meal #5: Turkey-Tortilla Bake (Mexican, pg 114)

I probably should look up the points values of all these foods... but I think it will make me depressed, so I won't. :-) Now to make the grocery list and get going! What should I make for dinner tonight? (Hmm, methinks it will be meal #5 since I doubt I have enough time to do any of the others! Though I really really want beef-a-roni tonight... have to wait until Monday for that. Oh well.)

Goals for 11/11

Goals for today:

1. Put away clean clothes in bedroom and make bed.
2. Make a menu for this week.
3. Go grocery shopping.
4. Clean cat boxes.
5. Start the process to find cheaper car insurance.

Motivation 11/7/08

Ok... two days ago I had this house spotless. After just one day of a crazy 2 year old running around and me not keeping up with laundry and my paper piles it's a mess again. I have motivation this morning, so I'm blogging to keep me accountable and motivated to get this stuff done! Here's the list, Ladies.

  • put away clean dishes in dishwasher
  • hand wash dirty dishes
  • fold laundry load #1 from yesterday
  • wash darks
  • wash lights/whites
  • fold load #2 and#3
  • stuff diapers
  • wash diapers
  • pack for VA
  • find anything we're not using to sell at yard sale
  • clip coupons and file
  • put away papers that are all over the table and counter
  • vacuum upstairs and down!
  • hang pictures
  • return movie
  • mail Beth Sea Bands
  • clean microwave (it was gross)

There, now to convince myself to stop chatting on AIM and get to it... :)

Meal plan

I don't meal plan, but I'm trying. Due to the car situation, Josh & I are getting home at the same time- 6 or later- until my car is back, so I'm going for 'quick meals' this week. I don't like eating late. Normally, I'm home an hour before Josh and have plenty of time to cook.

Monday - Ate at Wendy's on the way home from dropping the car at the car doctor, so we could get home 20 mins before people started showing up and clean in a cleaning frenzy. FAIL

Tuesday - Spaghetti & garlic bread - I made pasta sauce from my garden tomatoes over the weekend. Picked up a $5 pizza on the way home, because it was so late & we were hungry. FAIL

Wednesday - Fried Rice Spaghetti & garlic bread. Also, need to cook taco meat for tacos or rice for fried rice.

Thursday - Tacos or fried rice. We'll have to have this meal on the table, eaten, and cleaned up in teh space of about 45 minutes.

Friday - Roast chicken & veggies - a whole chicken in the crockpot. Freeze leftover meat for other meals.

Saturday - Burgers & veggies & potato wedges

Sunday - Breakfast - eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, possibly biscuits

One of the weekend days, Josh's family is coming over, but I'm fuzzy as to which one.

Joanna's weekend goals

Most of the small group- 6 adults & 4 kids under 4 plus us- is coming over Monday. One couple won't be there- they're having their second today or tomorrow, probably. 6 kids under 4 in one small group. Crazy. We're obviously behind the curve.

- Put away clean dishes
- take Casey to the groomer
- pick beans
- make picture CD for Caroline's MIL
- clean pretty much everything
- Plan a meal+drinks (people will bring 2 sides & dessert)

Proud of myself

I should add, I was proud of myself this morning:

My alarm went off at 5:40am (a typical alarm is at 6am)
I got ready for the day.
I started laundry.
I took Casey out.
I picked peas.
I shelled peas.
I made lunch for Josh & myself.
I fed/crated Casey.
I put the laundry in the dryer (I got up early so I'd have time to hang it outside, but the radio said something about rain. Bummer. Especially annoying since I haven't seen any rain yet today.)
I was at work by 7:15.

I like mornings. And, I have a secret: I even like Monday mornings.

To-Dos this week

- Take trash out
- Put away clean clothes
- Figure out a menu plan for this week (Tree & Dan are coming Saturday!)
- Clean room where they'll be staying (It's already pretty clean, just a bit dusty.)
- Sweep up the mountains of Casey-hair all over the house Done, but I'll have to do it again soon.
- Unload dishwasher with clean dishes
- Load dishwasher with dishes from sink

- Pick more peas. And perhaps lettuce. Again, done, but not for good
- Upload the rest of the pictures.
- Pick flowers for Caroline to welcome them home?

Hi. My Name Is Beth. I Used To Post Here.

:-) I need some extra motivation today. Because for the first time EVA, B and O are sleeping in the SAME ROOM at the SAME TIME.

And I have all kinds of extra time and my hearts in a whir and I don't quite know what to do with myself.

That's enough for now. We'll see how much I can get done with this new-found freedom...

Home for a day

Yesterday Josh had to work, and I was left home without a car.
  • I got the meat off of leftover cornish hens, froze it
  • I made broth with the bones.
  • I took down the Christmas decorations.
  • I rearranged furniture.
  • I blogged.
  • I put 2 baskets of laundry away
  • I didn't cook dinner because my parents were taking us out for my birthday, and our fridge & freezer are too full for cooking & saving anything, with holiday leftovers
  • And I was totally bored by about 2:30 in the afternoon.
What do you guys DO with yourselves?! I suppose its different having other people (kids) at home with you. As it is, (controversial statement of the day) I'm glad I'm working at this stage in life. I'd go nuts.

Borrego menu 1/2-1/6

I'm a bit behind on my menu planning. :-p I am going grocery shopping today though!!

Meal #1: Mexican Beef Stew (this recipe is January's feature on my new Betty Crocker calendar - thanks Beth for the link to get a free calendar!) (Joanna, this would be a good throw-in-before-work recipe)
Meal #2: Hamburgers & Green Beans
Meal #3: Tuna Noodle Casserole
Meal #4: Ham and Swiss Cheese Potato Bake
